Our OFSTED Reports
On the 5th April 2004, The Wishing Tree Nursery was inspected by Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education) and our registration was approved to provide full day care for children between the ages of 3 months and 5 years. Since then we have been inspected twice in 2005 and 2008, in each case achieving the highest rating.
The inspection assesses the nursery against the national standards which are now enrolled into the Early Years Foundation Stage. Click here for more information.
The purpose of Ofsted registration and inspection is to judge whether applicants are suitable to keep children safe and well cared for and whether they will help children to develop and learn. Ofsted does this by carrying out personal checks on the applicant and on the applicant's employees and associates, and by meeting the applicant and checking the premises. Registration visits take place before children begin to attend the setting.
Since September 2001, Ofsted has been responsible for regulating the provision of day care for children aged up to 8 years. Ofsted has four main regulatory functions:
- The registration of providers, to ensure that those providing childminding and day care are suitable to do so and that their provision meets national standards and relevant regulations.
- The inspection of providers, to ensure that they continue to be suitable.
- The investigation of complaints against providers, to check whether their registration should continue.
- Enforcement action to ensure that providers comply with the National Standards and relevant regulations.
